In this blog, we will tell you how the Hydrangea is grown and what varieties there are.

What is the story of a Hydrangea?
The cut Hydrangea is native to Southeast Asia and is also found in North and South America (Andes mountains). About eighty varieties are known in the wild. The name derives from Greek. 'Hydro' stands for water and 'angeion' means vessel or pitcher, referring to the bulbous flower after flowering. The Hydrangea exudes pure gratitude; the profusion of flowers together form a beautiful whole, stand in harmony and symbolize love, harmony and peace.

About the Hydrangea
Hydrangea cut flowers are available in a plethora of colors. From all shades of red, pink and purple to white, green and blue. There are even combined colors available, such as green/red, purple/green and flowers with colored edges.
In fact, some hydrangeas color through during flowering. Their original color mixes with a green tint, creating beautiful color accents. When fully colored through, they take on a beautiful autumn red color.
We call these through-colored hydrangeas “Classic.” They are available year-round, peaking in supply from May through November. The “Fresh” varieties, in fresh colors such as white, green, pink, blue and purple, are found mostly from March through October.

Did you know? Hydrangeas naturally grow only pink or red flowers? To grow blue Hydrangeas, growers have a special trick. Adding aluminum sulfate makes the soil more acidic, giving the flowers the coveted blue color.
Wedding-worthy flower
Hydrangeas are the perfect flower for the bridal bouquet. The tender, grateful and loving look of the Hydrangea is a perfect fit for a wedding. In addition, the Hydrangea comes in a variety of soft colors and combines tremendously well with other flowers in a bridal bouquet.
