June

In June, demand for airy, green houseplants increases. The Dypsis fits perfectly with summer interior trends and tropical concepts.

Characteristics

Dypsis lutescens is native to Madagascar and is known for its airy, feathery leaves and golden-yellow stems.

Key features:

  • Fresh green palm

  • Strong and long-lasting decorative value

  • Available year-round

  • Symbolism: peace and balance

The golden palm instantly gives interiors a fresh and lively look.

Care

The Dypsis is known as a low-maintenance houseplant. With the right care, the plant will remain healthy and decorative for a long time.

Do’s ✓

Water regularly

Keep the potting soil slightly moist. Water approximately once a week in winter and twice a week in summer, depending on the temperature and location. Ensure excess water can drain away properly and prevent the roots from standing in water for long periods.

Ensure sufficient humidity

As a tropical plant, the golden palm prefers higher humidity. Mist the leaves regularly, especially in winter when heating makes the air drier. Preferably use water at room temperature.

Fertilise during the growing season

During spring and summer, occasional application of houseplant fertiliser supports healthy growth. In autumn and winter, extra fertiliser is usually not necessary.

Keep the leaves clean

Dust can easily accumulate on the leaves. By gently wiping or misting the leaves, the plant stays healthy and can absorb light more effectively.

Don’ts ✗

Do not let the potting soil become too wet

Yellow leaves can indicate overwatering or poor drainage. Always check that excess water can drain away properly.

Do not place the plant in direct midday sunlight

Bright, indirect light is ideal. Too much direct sunlight can damage the leaves.

Do not ignore dry air

Brown leaf tips are often caused by low humidity or insufficient water. Regular misting and slightly higher humidity help to prevent this.

Avoid cold draughts and temperatures below 15°C

The Dypsis grows best in a warm and stable indoor environment.
