During our visit, the focus was, of course, on the latest additions to the product line.
When selecting new gerbera varieties, there is more to consider than just color and appearance. Shelf life, quality, consistency, and market suitability also play an important role.
“The great thing about new varieties is that you’re constantly surprised by new colors and shapes. But in the end, the overall look has to be right.”
Growing a beautiful gerbera is one thing. Ensuring that the same quality ultimately reaches the customer is just as important.
At Summit, that process begins in the greenhouse, where the flowers are grown, harvested, sorted, and prepared for their onward journey.
From there, Summit and Florca work closely together to maintain the quality of the gerberas all the way to the customer. Florca handles further processing and packaging and ensures that the flowers find their way to customers all over the world.
This is how the grower's knowledge and quality are combined with Florca's logistics expertise and international network.
New varieties weren't the only thing we documented during our visit. We also got a glimpse of the harvesting, sorting, and packaging processes and discussed quality, sustainability, and innovation.
